Promise Ring is a song featured on my CD Sojourn of Love. It tells the tale of young love and how fleeting it is and yet how much it means to us throughout our lives. At least it has for me. The girl, who will remain known simply as the girl for privacy sake, and I went together for almost 2 years. That was almost 40 years ago when we were both teenagers. She was my first love and has remained a special person in my thoughts and prayers throughout the years. For our brief time together (it didnt seem brief at the time, but it sure does now!) we had a mostly happy and sweet relationship. But, as George Harrison sang, all things must pass. I will always have fond memories of her and none of the things that eventually made us realize that our lives would have to go in different directions matter all these years later. Only the young emotions and tender-hearted memories remain. When I wrote this song for the CD the intention was to capture some of that innocence and explain how it was the first part of my sojourn of love where romantic love has been concerned. I have no idea if the girl will ever see this video and I certainly hope that if she does, and for that matter you my dear friends watching and listening now, will understand this isnt a case of some old guy still carrying a torch for an old girlfriend. I have had a mostly wonderful life and I wouldnt change a thing. Two wonderful children and now two beautiful grandchildren (with two on the way!) make my <b>...</b>
