Hi, my name is Emily Roberts. My mission trip will be in Visalia, California and in La Mision, Baja Mexico. The ministry in Visalia is called NPI(Nehemiah Project International) which is an after school program for children that come from poor families and/or bad backgrounds. The misinstry in La Mision is Open Arms Daycare Center (a daytime orphanage) for the local children there. I will be volunteering with the team that works at both of these places. I felt God really touched me the first time I visited both of these ministries last year, and that the Holy Spirit was very present in my life. I feel that this trip will really help me in my personal walk with God as well as the children Ill be working with. I also feel that it will help to expand my view of Gods world, and that I will be able to know the calling that God has for my life. I expect to come back to Taiwan with a new vision from God for my life.

Back in the day as kids we used to come up with exercises to jam bass and guitar to for practice. Wed jam the circle for like ever and it helped with the learning process. This is the same type thing around a blues progression of sorts that typically includes chord progressions, chords variations, rythem varions, a root and a tail, a singular change, a bridge or release, no formal lead part unless its yelled out to ya to go for it, a picking variation or some other element that keeps ya thinking. We would come up with these dittys instead of songs because they had no ending, just a round-about jam with bits of improv. I found these kinda sessions invaluable to my whole creative process as they helped me stay focused on a part over a long period of time and got my mind engaged in the creative process. I also learned to work in lotsa verbal things while playing and i still use these kinda jams today.
